El Hukbalahap fue el brazo armado del Partido Comunista de Filipinas, formado en 1942 para luchar contra la ocupación del Imperio del Japón durante la II Guerra Mundial. También luchó, entre 1946-1954, contra los pro-occidentales filipinos tras la independencia del país. El término es una contracción del filipino "Hukbong Bayan Laban sa mga Hapon", que significa "Ejército Popular contra el Japonés".
